Korea's holiday island runs on rental cars, not subways β here's how much won to budget and where you'll still need cash.
Jeju is Korea's road-trip island: there's no subway, so most visitors rent a car and loop the coast between beaches, waterfalls and Hallasan. Cards work in most cafΓ©s and restaurants, but the island's markets, roadside stalls and parking lots still love cash.
A rough daily budget for a comfortable mid-range trip (excluding the rental car):
Our rule of thumb
For 3 days on Jeju, carry around β©200,000β350,000 in cash for markets, stalls and parking, and put the rental car and restaurants on a card. At today's rate that's roughly RM670β1,170.
